SANTA CLARA, CA –  Although the Detroit Lions lost to the San Francisco 49ers with the final score of 34-31 for a contending spot in the Super Bowl, Detroit will still be in the house on super bowl sunday.

During tonight NFC’s championship there were seven players between both teams that were Detroit or Metro Detroit Natives. Donovan Peoples-Jones (Lions), Aidan Hutchinson Lions (Lions), Anthony Pittman (Lions), Jalen Graham (49ers), Ambry Thomas (49ers), Samuel Womack III (49ers), and Jaylon Moore (49ers).

On Super Bowl Sunday there will be players representing Detroit for the Kansas City Chiefs, who are Mike Danna and Nic Jones. With 19 Detroiters on NFL rosters, it’s the most well-represented city in the league, eclipsing Las Vegas (15), Miami (14) and Atlanta (14). It could be argued that Michigan produces the best athletes.

Ironically the Detroit Lions have had more “bad” years of football longer than any of these guys have been alive and they had to be the ones to take them down in their prime. As Womack lamented to Thomas recently, “We watched the Lions be bad our whole lives. Why now do we have to be the ones to crush their spirit?” Per the San Francisco Chronicles.

One pride may not be in the building under the circumstances they want this year but there will be ones wearing and representing their Detroit Pride. Detroit VS. Everybody.

Everybody from Detroit for real.
