Following a bye week, The Alabama A&M Bulldogs (1-0) were eager to take the field in Daytona

Beach against The Bethune-Cookman Wildcats (0-2). An Alabama Wide Receiving core hosting three Florida born athletes; this showdown seemed to be somewhat of a homecoming for the players as well. Harsh weather conditions delayed the game north of 30 minutes before kickoff.

The Bulldog defense came out to play early with previous game hero, Trenell Troutman, picking off a 3rd and 13 pass to give the Bulldog offense the ball. With such great field position, the Bulldogs eventually found the end zone on a 7-yard Glass to Ibrahim touchdown pass. A Failed Wildcats possession gave Alabama A&M the ball which would eventually lead to a Spencer Corey, who ended the night 3-3, 26-yard field goal to put them up

10-0. The Wildcats wouldn’t go down easy though. After another A&M field goal, Darnell Deas returned a kick 89 yards for the Wildcats early in the second quarter. Almost instantly the Bulldogs returned with a score of their own, topped off by a Gary Quarles run, who finished with 101 yards from scrimmage.

Both teams scored two more touchdowns of their own before the halfway mark of the game to bring the score to 27-13. Que Byrd scored the first touchdown of the second half for the Wildcats late in third, with a successful two-point conversion to accompany it. The fourth saw very little scoring from both teams with Corey booting his third successful field goal of the night for the Bulldogs and Bethune-Cookman scoring a touchdown but failing to convert the extra point to make the game at 30-27. The Game concluded with Alabama A&M defensive Juggernaut Trenell Troutman picking off a 4th and 10 pass for his third interception of the year in only two games to seal the win. He’s proving to be the guy who steps up in the big moments for A&M when he’s most needed.

Key contributors included Aqeel Glass with 234 yards and 2 TD passes, Odieu Hilaire with 7 receptions for 69 yards, and JaBraun McNeal with 7 tackles. The next time to see the Bulldogs in action will be September 25th against the Tuskegee Golden Tigers (0-2) in Mobile, Alabama, included in the Gulf Coast Challenge. Kickoff is set for 4:00 EST.
