Alabama A&M football returned to the field September 4, 2021 after having a flawless campaign this spring, capturing their first SWAC championship in fifteen years. Coming into the season, the Bulldogs are ranked as the #1 team in HBCU football. With such high expectations. Starting Quarterback Aqeel Glass did not disappoint. The graduate senior controlled the pace of the game throwing for over 400 yards to go along with 4 touchdown passes to four different receivers. Showing off pinpoint accuracy with a calm yet focused presence in the pocket, the experience showed, and translated to many big plays for the Bulldog offense.

A frequent producer of offense for the bulldogs was no doubt senior Brian Jenkins JR. The explosiveness of Brian was a problem for the South Carolina defense all night as he tallied up 5 receptions for 116 yards and a big 24-yard touchdown to put A&M up 35-31 late in the third quarter. A 16-yard pass to Tyelon Tate set up a one-yard Aqeel Glass touchdown, putting the Bulldogs up 42-41 with 6:30 remaining in the game. After both teams having unsuccessful possessions with the ball, South Carolina saw themselves facing a 4th and 15 at their own 48-yard line, leading to South Carolina Bulldogs QB Corey Fields throwing a game sealing interception to Trenell Troutman to seal the 42-41 win for Alabama A&M.

Other key contributors included halfback Gary Quarles w/136 yards & 1 rushing TD, Abdul-Fatai Ibrahim w/ 7 receptions for 82 yards and Ja’Marian Green with a team leading 9 tackles. The bulldogs will next be in action September 16th vs the Bethune Cookman Wildcats in Daytona Beach. Kickoff is 7:30 EST.

After debut win against South Carolina State, Samara and the bulldogs discuss their play and ways to be better and more polished for future outings. Getting to know the players more, the team told who has the best and worst fashion on and off the field , with Brian giving the crew some pictures to make it even more hilarious.
